One of my fundamental principles is that your relationship with yourself is more important than anything else. Yes, ANYTHING. If your relationship with you is shit, your relationship with others is going to be shit.
Remember, it is absolutely no one else’s job to make you feel some kind of way. How you feel and what your life looks like is on you, my friend. Now, some self-worth stuff may be in the way of making that an easy process, but you won’t know the answers to your problems until you start acknowledging they’re a problem at all.
I spent a whole lot of my life focusing on other people. I thought, if I invest this time and energy into my family, surely, I will start to feel better. About 15 years down the road, I came to realize I felt completely drained. I was pouring, pouring, pouring and my cup was bone dry.
It wasn’t until I started focusing in on my healing journey through Reiki that I started to see the benefit of repairing the relationship with myself. Like most people, I just took what my parents gave me as far as tools to care for myself and worked with that. I’ll give you a guess what their main tool was… Good, ‘ol self-sacrifice!
Learning about your relationship with yourself and why you do what you do is key to living a life of confidence and purpose.
Some prompts to consider: Who are you to you (i.e. parent-like, enemy-like, partner-like)? How do you treat you on a regular basis? What kind of things are important for your well-being?
I’m curious to see what comes through, so always feel free to email me.
